So in the next version if the money levels before you get jump gate access where similar to the original I'm thinking about 25k or so for the level and then they went up as pod selling pays well it would allow people to not be stuck with a 400k grind inside New York. This also would allow people to play to story line with fewer work arounds.

Wow okay got past mission 1. The drift tings works well. It feels a little like Endor's Game trying to relearn concepts of direction etc., but my shield battery use has dropped and I'm hitting fairly well with the 2.0 refire weapons. Thanks for the help.

beating the rogues is not too hard. The slide thing works okay every no and then I get hit like a sitting duck, but I can drop others faster. I reinstalled CS with the no story option, but was supprised by the high level of cash paid for a captured pilot vs. most ship upgrades. It is a bit harder then Discovery The good fighter to gunboat grind board me. I've not done well with 2.00 refire weapons vs. fighters that would be a good skill improvement (I also can't use mines remotely well). If I get past mission 1 I can upgrade my ship a ton as soon as I can get to a prison so it might work.

okay so Beta 4 is dumb. I was trying the mission again (shields and nano's are no prob) I was down to the last rogue who had maybe 10% hull left and the red screen of death pops up. I think beta 4 suicided into some derby. I think I'll take another crack it that or find a compatible no story mod

    Tnx for the input.

I guess what I'm wondering is did the NPC's get overlooked when the game was altered? For example if a rogue take 1000 points of damage to die in normal and 4000 in CF, but the NPC's still only take 1000 before they are dead. I can't program to save my life, but it might be something this simple. Most mission the NPC's don't do anything for you but adsorb a few hits, but if they need to live to keep going they would need to be balanced to the rest of the world.

CF is a lot harder then the original FL (which is great). It
takes long time to drop enemy ships which is fine, but the balance seems to be off. I’m playing in SP (smalls kids and need to be
able to pause if they wake up from their naps) finishing up mission one going to
the rogue base near Pittsburg Beta 4 dies very quickly. I’ve taken several cracks
at it I can drop a few rogues before he dies and the mission fails, but not all
of them. I’m running 3 class 2’s and I won’t pretend to be an ace, but I’m not horrible
either. Based on my runs through the
original game where there are fights that are rather hard compare to fighting
the rogues I’m worried that the balance is off and that even if I get past this
mission I’ll wind up stuck fighting hopeless battles with Rhinelander’s where
my companion NPS are dead in 5 seconds flat.

    Any help?
