Trade assault

  • Ok after weeks of not


    running it i have finally came up with a structure for a trade assault event i have looked


    carefully at the lessons learned from the other events ans decided the best formula is a


    simple one as it doesn't need a massive amount of planning and in theory the way i have


    planned this it could be run even ad hock with 10 mins notice the rules are also simple and


    all it needs is 2 people to volunteer as a referee.


    1/ there will be two teams


    traders and pirates


    2/ the traders will have one train (me i will make a char special


    for this event clearly named to minimise confusion)
    and escorts


    3/ the aim of the


    event is for the pirates to destroy more cargo than is delivered so for example if i deliver


    4 train fulls of cargo and the pirates kill the train 3 times the trader teams wins but if


    the pirates kill the train 5 times and i only deliver 2 train fulls of cargo the pirates win


    (this is to do away of all the difficulties with attempting to keep score so the system


    means that its simple points instead of complicated adjudication of delivered and captured


    cargo)


    4/ the participants will be chosen by the team leader (btw i wont be the


    trader team leader i just fly the train and i also follow the team leaders orders) just like


    in Saturdays assault event


    5/ all weapons are allowed no botts and batts in combat


    between fights players may regenerate or dock for repairs
    or to reload but the train


    may not be docked for longer than 30 seconds or the pirates win a point by default


    6/


    the event will run for 60 minutes


    the idea was to make this event as simple as


    possible and me having the train eliminates any problems with finding players with the


    correct ships. I want to plan the best start and finishing locations for the train atm its


    looking like i will choose new London and new Tokyo as there are plenty of jump holes and


    loads of ways in and out of each system the aim is for one cargo there and one back because


    it would be a huge advantage in the potential for the pirates to score more when the train


    is returning empty.

  • The trade assault will be run tonight at 8pm GMT we have the referees and all i need are 2 team leaders the rules are as above see u all there and may the best team win :D

    ok so the event was run tonight and except for a few problems with lag etc it wasn't a complete disaster i have learned some valuable lessons from this event and there will be some minor rule adjustments to make it run smoother like the train is going into the bin for a seferina as it cant fight but its not a nightmare to fly and wont get stuck every 5 mins at jump gates also i don't think we need referees because its not fair on the poor guys sitting there all that time bored when they could take part and since i have been on the server the issue of cheating in events has never been raised so i think ppl have enough honour to judge the score them selves also most the enemy team is around the planet anyway :D
