OK I took the day off and
have come back tonight to see the server still crashing.
It seems to me that there
must be those with buggered installations and those with ok ones (if this is not the case we
are all in trouble).
((Although I read that we have got people who state they have
completely reinstalled and are still causing problems which is worrying.))
I suggest
however that we log the names of those we definately can see are causing a crash, or we do
it we own up if we do it.
We can also list those that appear to be ok.
Then
:-
a. We can establish cause and effect and jump on those who have still not tided up
their act. If they carry on doing it then we can all message them as soon as they come
online or perhaps op can ban them temporary at least to save our sanity and they might come
and read the forum
Once they post that they have followed the fix instructions the
ban can be lifted. If they never come to the forumm they are doubly stupid and the chances
are they will never be fixed anyway and go on crashing the server whatever op does to server
mod
b. Establish at least a liist of cleared users that seem ok. These guys can then
play and confirm what they did to fix the problem worked..
I remember reading a post
where the op said he would take the server offline for several weeks if ppl did not sort out
their acts. this seems unfair, when he can just ban those causing the crash that dont have
the sense to read the forum.
lets give him a list to work on.
PS I still think
it would help if the server list message and home page stopped telling users to use the 1.55
mod, some users may see that and keep on trying without ever reading the forum.
Just
some thoughts to get my fav server back online so i can continue exploring its goodness.
