Nav map screwed up

  • I think this might be a widescreen issue, but I also think that if it always hapened with widescreen i'd hear more about it.

I'm running CF at 1680x1050... but I didn't change the Freelancer.ini file because that causes CF to crash. Maybe that has something to do with the start up vids? However, without changing the freelancer.ini, the ingame part is still widescreen.

Backstory aside, this is what's happening:

My grid in the nav map is a different size than it should be. Some of the letters and numbers fall between boxes, but then some are on the lines or near them.

Same problem in MP and SP, it got really annoying trying to find that Alaska portal from Midpoint while under fire without my grid.

ALSO I can't set waypoints to the far right of the grid, they click to about an inch or two away from the border. AND when I zoom in and scroll around, the text seperates from the backround. The names of planets litterly scroll faster than the planets themselves.

    Any clue what's going on?

  • Maybe is your video card, if it's not.... try this:
Advanced System Care ( there's a free version as well)^^

  • Shouldn't be the card, the grid used to work fine before I set up widescreen.

I also reinstalled CF before setting it up.

I got widescreen working in the freelancer.ini now too. I guess CF just needed to update first.

    Grid is still messed up.

My problem is that my backround is scalled 1 unit too much on all sides.

    I've attached a picture.

*SPOILERS* Pic has basic contents of the Vega system.

  • There are fov calculators in the inet available. You only have to calculate and do the necessary trials so everything looks good. Its via trail and error possible ;) Up to now i dont know any other method ;(

But if you have it working in this resolution we would gladly know what you have adjusted - nearly the same like in this tutorial from Black.

  • Changing the FOV seems to be doing the trick, but that causes my menus to dig into the top of the screen so that's out of the question.

There's got to be some file for the nav map specifically, even if I have to squish all of the letters and numbers closer to the middle.

Actually, the dev's should be able to set up a widescreen mode in 1.8 if they size all of the map textures.

    EDIT:

Theres a file called universe.ini, some systems have a setting for NavMapScale, the problem is they are named stuff like "CF58"

Would anyone happen to know the CF number for Vega?

Probably not supposed to touch this file though, and it wouldnt be much of a solution.
