Looks like Blackstar researches and investigations about "planetary landing" feature to be included in the game are starting to retrieve him some rewards. His first attempts to get it are working well as we can see in this picture:

What I tested:
1) that the model was a bit too small, the high bulding is just 2x my ship and it should be at leas 10x (as it is inserted as model, I can try to augment the radius)

4) the planet i use to test is quite small, we can use real planets that are huge!
4) using multiple patch of cells to create cities, the problem of planet not being hard is solved, indeed you hit against the buildings and also to the ground around
5) still don't know how to put atmosphere to make damage but not destroy you, even if you pute damge at zero you die...
6) issue with atmosphere being onli one-side, maybe editing the shader model (is it?) so to have double-side texture with a brighter colored part (inside)?
7) small isuue with the model not appearing if not at last. Not a problem, but also after editing the .mopt file for distance visibility, this didn't change, it is porbably set in the config and globaldata file, and it depends how the model is listed. if we list it as station probably the problem i solved, otherwise the general rendering distance has to be improved
problem of avionics...well, we can already swith to different grade of FRICTION, the original game has an unreal friction that makes your ship stop after a while, in my game i disabled it into a more newtonian free drift..I love it, but still I let the esy setting with parameters of high friction. If some ine can write a script that automatically change the diffic. levels (we have 3 levels availeble) at different distances from atmosphere, it is done
9) last, and most important: the simulation of GRAVITY!! it si terrible that you arrive at all speed over the town (that in teh pic) and can stop like an eagle in supension, some idea how the planet attract you ???...
I think this is reaally all, after these solved, planets can be landable...
.... and, another idea according to the use of 3d objects..not only we can add small towns and stations, if we take the model used for the fog or the one for the anomalies and textured whit white clouds we can have real 3D clouds when you enter the atmosphere (<30-35 km)!Big%20smile
