Destroyers on the prowl
Pair of Iconoclast Class Destroyers. Being smallest and cheapest Chaos ship, Iconoclasts are viewed as mere cannon fodder, either operating in large squadrons or providing decoy blips. They are armed with six missile pod turrets with 270 degree Front coverage, which makes them less micro-demanding than Idolator and Infidel class raiders.

Knowing the universe, it was most probably deliberate. Except, according to one of size comparisons, Iconoclast is 1300 meters long and 400 meters wide.
