  • Is the XP step through similar to Windows 7? I am in need of some assistance in activating 2.0 for my computer. Keeps coming up with error messages. Cheers

    • No it is hard i found. I posted a walk through, but it was deleted as not needed. I will try to post it here and see if there is enough room.

    • Crossfire 2.0 Installation Guide for Windows XP (C) Zaddiq may be redistributed without modification this procedure works on windows xp pro with 3gb ram and 128mb graphics card. If your anti-virus software gives you trouble with CF2, see the related postings in the swat-portal forum. download CF 2.0 (takes a couple hours) right click Crossfire20setup.zip --> properties --> unblock. also make read only if you are superstitious. verify zip file has no errors and unzip. uninstall crossfire (if you are reading this you may have already tried to install it and failed.) uninstall Freelancer Mod Manager and remove all mods. uninstall Freelancer and saved games and other files of fl. (back up your saved games if you want to keep them) delete Freelancer folder. do a system restore point. reboot. clean your windows registery with a good cleaner program. (CCleaner) do a fresh clean install of Freelancer using the default path. do NOT modify Freelancer. don't patch to 1.1, don't use a no cd crack, ect. edit the properties of Freelancer folder to make it NOT read only. include sub folders and files. install Freelancer Mod Manager included in your CF download using the default path. do not use any other version. install microsoft .net framework 4.0 (4.5 will not work on xp). link is here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us…oad/details.aspx?id=17851 run Crossfire20setup. select custom installation and uncheck the .NET Framework 4.5 box. install to default directory. do not put in mods folder of freelancer mod manager. if you get a visual c++ setup message, install or repair Microsoft Visual C++. it takes a while to finish. be patient. Freelancer Mod Manager should run upon setup finishing. in mod manager activate Crossfire Mod 2.0 Client Edition. You will get options screen. If your graphics card has 128mb or less activate compatability mode for old cards. select the options you want and activate. again this will take a LONG time. be patient. exit Freelancer Mod Manager. click the Freelancer Crossfire icon on your desktop. allow the launcher to update. set shader options to vanilla fl. exit crossfire launcher. again change properties on Freelancer folder to be NOT read only, include subfolders and files. reboot. click on the Freelancer Crossfire icon again and select single player, yes to update. fingers crossed, Crossfire may start and run.

    • sorry for the bad format, doesnt carry over well on the wall.
