If it was a save from before 1.8, like, 1.7, it won't work at all. If it was from 1.8, and it was a capital ship or something like that, it won't work either (most probable), any ship or equipment that got edited heavely will result in a crash when loading that character, from that Save file. Coincidentally I tried restarting the SP campain yesterday But I cheat the parts where you have to level up on yourself...
