Yes. In MP I can get past the load screen and see the ship in Manhattan, but when I launch or go to a dealer the game crashes again

I think it may be a lost cause as well. Thanks for the help nonetheless.

Thanks both for your help. I figured a completely fresh install of Windows on Parallels would be the best way to test this, so here are my steps:
- Downloaded Freelancer from Oldgames (Freelancer - Old Games Download)
- Installed Freelancer according to instructions directly into C:/Freelancer (i.e. not into the Program Files folder) and restarted
- Downloaded No CD exe from The Starport (How to get Vanilla Freelancer running in 2023 (no cd) | The Starport (the-starport.com)), only copied Exe file, no other patches used
- Launched game and installed DirectPlay as prompted
- Started SP Campaign in Vanilla as per post above, quit directly after end of movie sequences before entering Bar on Manhattan
- Launched Crossfire2Setup.exe and installed into C:/Freelancer Crossfire with all settings / customizations left untouched and restarted
- Started game through launcher in SP mode with update (5918 files in total)
- Launch screen, Reshare renders all effects (side note: mouse reactivity works fine before but becomes extremely laggy once reshade is done)
- Launch SP - game exits during load screen same as before
As I am not getting any new error messages I'm afraid it's still the same issue as before. Not sure I have done anything wrong here, perhaps there is just an issue with running the game in Parallels

Hi Martind,
thanks for the tips.
On deleting save games: Interestingly that folder where the save games should be is empty (i.e. no "Freelancer" Folder in Documents). However I have not started an SP campaign in Vanilla FL so perhaps it only creates the folder upon first launch of a campaign?
I tried also launching MP, I can see the Starflier on Manhattan, however when I enter the bar, commodity dealer or anywhere else the game just exits with the usual error code:
07:06:07.982 --> [i]:Starting Update...
07:06:27.694 --> [x]:Wrong or missing answer from server
07:06:27.697 --> [w]:Source file "brbatwreckMaterial #173.tga.dds" does not exist for download
07:06:27.744 --> [i]:Prepare Crossfire Start
07:06:30.206 --> [i]:Starting Crossfire
07:06:36.999 --> [i]:Crossfire is running
07:07:48.044 --> [x]:Crossfire Exit - CODE 00000001
07:07:48.778 --> [i]:Crossfire was closed
If i try leaving Manhattan for space, I actually get a brief error message after the launch sequence:
Not sure if the helps.

Apologies - saw that someone else had the same issue and it remained unresolved.

Hi all,
hoping someone can help me with a technical issue. I have installed FL as a clean install with the No-CD Patch and the Crossfire 2.01 Mod. The game launches fine but crashes once I start a new SP campaign. I get the load screen, but quickly FPS reduces and the game crashes (I never get past the load screen).
Some technical info:
- FL install is clean (no existing save games)
- Running on a M1 Mac Mini in Parallels with Windows 11
- Game is not installed in x86 folder but directly on drive (e.g. C:/)
- Tried various Render Modes (DX10/11/12 works, I have DX12 installed)
- Running game as admin, also tried with the FL Patch (no change)
- I have tried running the Crossfire Exe both in Compatability Mode for Windows 8 and without
I checked the log, but all I get is the generic Error Code 0000000001.
See some further info below:
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was hoping to finally play FL again after 10 years away...
