So I enjoy this mod but last time I played through it I had no choice but to lower the difficulty. It was the long stretch through Dom'Kavash space and my poor Titan kept getting beat up slowly from system to system (where there are no breaks to repair).
I decided to replay from the beginning and try again. So, the first break you get in the official storyline (I am level 3) instead of meeting Juni on Manhattan I'm trying to outfit with the best possible ship/weapon combo and play through the original and CF storylines with it. Currently I've worked my way up to a Redemption with Shield Upgrade MK X and all 6 level 10 slots have Nomad Cannons.
Questions:
1. Is the CF storyline meant to be played with a VHF or do I need a Battleship/Dreadnought (at difficulty scale of 1.00)? I find the Redemption a good deal better than the Titan but I'm not sure if I can get through SP with it. Also the Shield Upgrade only increases regen by 20 units. The Champion level 10 shield regens at 245 units, so the upgrade improves things by less than 10%. Am I missing something here?
2. Nomad weapons (I think) are among the best weapons I can get at level 3 in the official storyline (using X-3043 via Custodian). I know Ther'hon and Que-irtor weapons are more powerful (or the Phoenix from Earth). At this point the gate to Hyperion says access denied. Turning down the difficulty and flying to the GMG Hypergate also give me access denied. Any way to get to Altair/Inner Core at this stage? At what point do those gates unlock - CF storyline only?
