What determines the "forward" facing orientation of a 3D model ?

  • Assuming I'm creating a sphere in MS3D, and place the engines HP on any side (= therefore defining the ship's back), what must I do/configure in order to prevent flying this sphere in the game with it's ass facing forward (= engines in front) ?

Is it determined by the positive values of the X axis or is there something else ?

I have a good news and a bad news for you. The good news is that there is no bad news.

  • depends on the tools you use

e.g. in milkshape you model it in the negative z direction and while exporting the model into FL you use the option to flip it backwards

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.
