Annoying lag

    Hi there, First of all i want to say that this mod and server are


    really cool. I find it very exciting to discover new systems and ships. It gives freelancer


    an extra dimension. No more boring PvP where everyone has an eagle or titan, mounted with


    nomads. Now most of the people fly different ships so PvP-fights are much more exciting now.


    But there is only one thing that takes away all fun.... Yes... the lag...


    You can


    fight like the best, but the lag allways defeats you. Once i was exploring Altair, but i


    didn't come very far, because i got killed by the lag (no, not by the nomads.. the nomads


    are too easy if you ask me) And it was not the first time. I lost 7 million due to lag


    (killed when i got the champion shield in a freighter) and i lost a character due to weird


    errors when i logged on to the server.


    I know that a good server costs money and


    stuff, but where is the lag comming from? Is it caused by people who have terrible dial-up


    connections? Or is it just because of the mod.


    Isn't there a way to make it


    inaccesable for anyone with a low bandwith connection?


    All i want to say, is that


    the lag takes away gameplay and fun. I think if it continues like this you will loose some


    fan's of the mod (maybe me included) and i think that's the last thing you


    want...


    (the lag is not caused by my own connection, because i allways have a ping


    below 30)



    I wont hold grudge or anything like that if you close or delete this


    thread. Because i think you are well aware of the lag ;)


    but please answer my


    questions before you do so...

    i suspect that the mod is 2 big for the server to


    handle


    my oppinion is get rid of some unneccessary features so we can play without


    lag again


    also i don't know if its excists for a freelancer server but people with


    high ping should be kicked automaticly

    I don't think there are any other players on an openSP, are


    there?. And if you redirect everybody to an openSP, than why create an online server


    anyway?


    And i'm not asking for an alternative for the server, i just ask why there


    is lag, and if there is a way to minimize it. Don't tell me you like te lag...

    k sorry for my kind of rude reaction. But i'm done exploring and i


    want to fight some other players, but it's not so easy with that lag. And i don't know if


    it's just me, but it looks to me that the lag is happening more often than a couple of days


    ago...
