Clan Bases

  • Part 1 - General information

In Crossfire 2.0 server clans will be able to build their own Station.
This station can be freely placed anywhere in the clan system. Stations can not be build outside the clan system.
It is adviced not to place the station inside dense asteroid fields, radiation zones, sun coronas, other bases or planets. Reason: obvious.

The clan leader is the only person who can build such a station and by default has the main administration rights on that station.
Access to the station internal control room is restriced and password protected. It is highly adviced to write down the password and pin it at a station wall where everyone can see it.... wait... no thats not correct, dont do that.

The station administrator aka clan leader has full control over all commands and features of the station.
Clan members have the right to enter the Clan station and use the activated functions of the station.
Access for non-clan member is restricted.
The station administrator is able to make exceptions and give docking permission to specific foreign vessels.

The station has a modular design. The very first module is callled the Core module.
It lacks practically everything including toilets, poker tables and go-go dancers. But it at least allows you to dock and buy some basic commodities.
During the first activation of the stations computer mainframe the station administrator is allowed to label the station with a custom name. Adviced are funky names which make everyone who is not allowed to dock jealous.
Note: it is not adviced to assign a custom name to the computer mainframe itself. Names like Skynet, SHODAN and HAL9000 have lead to disturbing results and human casualties in our test environments.

As already mentioned the station has a modular design. Here a simple rule applies: "if it looks like a solar panel then it certainly is a solar panel". For only a handful of dollar, some commodities and your soul you can purchase additional station modules (Rule of acquisition #10: "Greed is eternal").
Modules range from simple storage rooms, bars, shield emitters, ship dealers up to high tech defense platforms (*pew* *pew*). (Rule of acquisition #21: "Never place friendship above profit" + Rule of acquisition #34: "War is good for business")

Note: As we are living in a peace loving society (Rule of acquisition #35: "Peace is good for business") the construction of a Station Core module binds you to an agreement to grant economical support to other nearby stations (Rule of acquisition #111: "Treat people in your debt like family ... exploit them"). In return you can earn conquest points (see upcoming article about the Conquest system).
Conquest Points are required to unlock station upgrades.
(Conquest system will work based on the rule of acquisition #62: "The riskier the road, the greater the profit")

Unlike other station designs, clan bases are very compact which minimizes structural weaknesses.
However, with additional modules the station size will increase aswell. Station upgrades are visible as interior and exterior modules.
That means if you build a bar you can see the station module attached to the station (from outside) and inside the station the bar as room is being added.
With a bit of luck the windows have been added before you open the door to the bar for the first time.

The stations population and offers are based on its location and/or the stations owners profession.
It is logical to assume that law keeping clans will welcome local police forces on their stations and rely on their services (contracts) just like it would be logical to assume that clans that rely on illegal activities have good relations to the scum of the universe.
Smugglers prefer to keep up relations with both types of people which certainly maximizes their profits.
Merc stations often attract the attention of members of the bounty hunters guild which often hang around at the bars to find new jobs.

Detailed information about upgrade possibilities in part 2 of the clan bases description.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!
