Hey everyone. I know this has been asked before a while back but is there a release date for crossfire yet? I read a thread from july that said at that point probably a few weeks. Just curious as the development progress has been at that 99% for server software for a while!

Thats true. Development is at a minimum if you just see the aspect of develop something.
I have made a lot of features and changed some behaviour to the current one. Many parts are now put together and we need to test them very carefully in order to release a as much as possible bugfree and stable mod.In regards to single player we are already finished. But the different server features need to cooperate together. And thats where we are busy right now. There are a few things which werent considered before and things just reveal after they are tested. So there are still a few bugs i have to sort out and there are still a few test scenarios open. I know that everyone awaits the mod - we are trying to finish soon and at the moment we cannot say if this will be in 2 or 4 weeks or even 8. Really as long as not everything is really tested we cannot say.
I would just appreciate if now moaning will not start. We have been constantly saying we are close to finish - which we were. But as long as the mod development wasnt finished at all we also have made additional addons and did extent the mod a lot further from what we initially wanted it to be. So all i can say, be prepared and stay tuned. We made a lot of good progress over the past month and i am sure in the next few weeks we will also finish some further stuff. Aside from this you need to know that we dont work on the mod day in day out. Its not our profession - we do all the work in our spare time. And spare time means its the time we can put aside from our alls busy real life, work time, family and friends.
You will know at least a week if not two in advance before we are going to bring out the final release.

I hope, mod will be released until beginning of the Third World War.
But...thanks for the encouraging information.

Only a little suggestion about this from my side:
It would be nice if someone of you guys might post a small progress update every few weeks, at least once at month, if possible.
I would appreciate that personally a lot. -

SWAT_OP-R8R, you know, this progress bars tell nothing. This 99% Server Software progress can hang there forever. Mounths, years. I always have a bad feeling about progress bars without comments on it. This one can mean everything between "We fucked up at the end of development" and "Just a little bit... C'mon! WE ARE ALMOST THERE BITCHES. JUST ONE MORE STEP". So please add at least short comments under them, and a date of this comment.
Thank you.
//And one more question: How to make a quote of a specific message? This forum engine make me mad...
-
we will post progress as soon we deem to see it fits. Bugfixing is hard to describe in details - and not all of that is important to know in detail as now most of it are server related stuff.
If you wanna know - we are currently putting the clan base stuff together and all the stuff that has to cooperate with it.PS: for quoting you can use the quote bbs code
-
im absolutely not going to give unimportant status infos
you wouldnt understand what we mean and we would waste even more time with that. -
Huor,

Just the word "Bugfixing" under this progressbar, can tell more. Even more, than just a progressbar. No one needs details.
You guys like Windows 8 to 8.1 update procedure. It's just a progressbar with no even superficially explaining what are you doing so long at this moment. I don't ask you to post commit messages from your VCS repo everyday, do I?
But it's your business, of course. I only have the right to just ask you.QuotePS: for quoting you can use the quote bbs code
I know about BBCode, but I have no clue about how to quote post I'm trying to reference. There are "Quote" buttons, but... I can't understand how they work, however. So i have to do this manually.SWAT_OP-R8R,

Okay. I am just asking.
I see now, what development is alive. For me it is important to see that this wonderful mod still living. Thank you all. -
Well, for me some words like "still fixing some server issues", "putting some clan base stuff together to get it working with each other" or "fixing some launcher issues" are more than enough.
We don't need to know the details.
Words like those just show us that the mod developement is still going on and that soothes us. And that is the point.
And you don't need to do that every day. Once every two to four weeks is all I kindly suggest.
But its up to you if you want to do it or not.
Thank you anyways for still developing this great mod! -
uhm, it seems to me, that once per week there is the same question: how long does it take for 2.0? and then once per week there comes a small report about the current dev-issues. maybe i'm wrong in this?
but at least i'm sure, (the small and in RL busy too) dev-team is not lazy. (and even if they were, hey it is not my business, i just play this game and 1.9 is already great!)
-
no denne your not wrong, i see that like all the rest. i wonder if people can read as they can write. there is constant post on here to the progress of mod and the next version 2.0. it,s an amazing effort and time to create this mod by the team, but it,s a game and a truely great one but hello we all have a real life too which comes first.again when 2.0 is ready and stable it will be realeased. we all still have 1.9 in the mean time. if it get released to early then you will all whinge then with problem as we also see here in the posts. patience it will be well worth the wait.

right
-
you can use the time waiting to free about 17gb HDD space
thats about what is required to install the mod -
-bump- 8-o
-
17 GB HDD lol compared with size of 1.9, 2.0 will be very big, this will be AWESOME
-
well, its not that much bigger
but considering that you need to store the download on the hdd and install it into flmm before you activate it
... that sums upthe fully installed mod should be about 7gb

HEY ! you guys always interested in PROGRESS
