One for the archive: we've done a quick, improved scan of the US release of Privateer 2's Pilot's Manual. That's the oft-forgotten jewel case-sized booklet. Unlike the players' guides for games like Wing Commander III and Kilrathi Saga, the Privateer 2 booklet is actually in universe. In fact, it's an adaptation of the UK "As it Is in Heaven: A Guide to Space Travel" document which was presented more like a regular Wing Commander manual in that original release. It's fun to compare the two - there's a decided effort to cut out some of the British humor in the original... just compare how they describe how the Nuke 'ems function! This booklet has been available online in the past but only as an incomplete (no cover!) low resolution scan covered in 'ReplacementDocs' watermarks. Well, we're replacing the replacments now! How do you like that?!
The 'main' manual for the US release is named Your Guide to the Universe and it is an adaptation of the UK original's much more specificly set up Rehabilitation Guide For Anterior Amnesia. I idolize Origin's creative services group but boy is hospital paperwork a cooler framing device for all of that. You can access all four manuals below:
