…There has been a range of reactions to news that Princess Aisling Duval and Federal Ambassador Jordan Rochester are to be married.
A congratulatory message was sent from the Imperial Palace, but there has been no personal comment from Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval. News agencies on Capitol have reported rumours that the proposed marriage was not discussed with the Imperial family, and that the Emperor did not consent to the Princess's engagement.
Senator Zemina Torval offered a more definite statement of disapproval:
"This is an attention-seeking move from the princess, and a dangerous one. It is beyond her remit to impact Imperial policy in this manner. Allowing her to harbour romantic fantasies is one thing, but the Empire cannot countenance such a reckless political manoeuvre."

Bug fixes
- Story summaries for the various NPC base specialists have been added to the Collected Knowledge page of the information portal.
- Plaque interactions will no longer loop back to the first piece of history for that planet’s race after completing every interaction.
- Abandoned building interactions will no longer loop back to the beginning of the first story after completing every interaction.
- Fixed an issue that could cause some journey milestone guidance missions to become stuck in a loop.

…*Pilots' Federation ALERT*
Brewer Corporation intends to improve the travel corridor between the Alcor and Colonia systems by constructing several new starports.
The previous two phases of the Colonia Bridge project established stationary megaships in 56 systems. These provide rest, refuel and repair facilities for vessels making the 22,000 light year journey to and from the Colonia region. The additional infrastructure has also increased the amount of tritium available at these markets, easing the journey for capital-size ships.
A press release from Brewer Corporation outlined this latest initiative:
"Phase three aims to enhance the Colonia Bridge by building permanent starports in key locations along the route. These will offer a wide range of services to travellers, and also serve as homes for the many new communities that we expect to spring up around them."

…The Belgian Chess History website runs a remarkable blog where they analyze and dissect chess games in progress across a variety of film and television. They look at the chess board setups and discuss how the characters (often inexplicably) got into their situation. Wing Commander has been featured, and it got a characteristically brutal scrubbing. Not only do they hate the setup, they're not fond of the characters nor even the chess pieces! You can find the full Belgian Chess History article here.
LOAF actually researched and found the actual chess set used in the WC Movie a while back. He also put together a slightly more accurate placement of the pieces, pictured below.
LOAF: It's just not a situation anyone would reasonably get to. Unless Bishop, a man named after a chess piece with said piece painted on his Rapier, is particularly terrible at chess.

New this month on the Wingkipedia: high res scans of the 1999 X-Toys Wing Commander trading cards! Fans who kept their cards in the packaging could be missing out on some awesome reverse-side lore!
A different trading card was included with each of X-Toys' eight Wing Commander action figures in 1999. The rear card text is largely adapted from the Wing Commander Confederation Handbook.

We are listening closely to your feedback, and have identified and resolved a number of stability issues. Fixes for these were released on Steam experimental, and this patch, 2.09.2, is now live on PC. We’ll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.
Bug fixes
- Introduced a number of PC-specific VR optimisations.
- Improved VR-specific anti-aliasing.
- Reduced graphics memory usage to improve stability.
- Fixed an issue where control pads did not rumble on PC.
- Fixed an issue where transferring valuable treasures (such as ancient bones) to other players would result in an invalid product.
- Fixed an issue where Shutter Doors had incorrect icons in the build menu.
- Fixed an issue where Gek players would float when sitting on the ground.

…Humanity's expansion into the Witch Head Nebula has continued with the introduction of seven planetary ports.
Six ports now occupy systems surrounding the existing enclave. The Alliance, Federation and Empire have each established two ports, strengthening the presence of their representative factions.
The seventh port, Cinder Dock, is located in Witch Head Sector DL-Y d17. Professor Alba Tesreau of Aegis Research provided some additional details:
"A facility managed by the engineer Chloe Sedesi has been installed at Cinder Dock. The engineering blueprints available at the facility offer upgrades to frame shift drives and thrusters."

Homeworld Remasteredmod. He's purchased some sophisticated visualization software, and it allows him generate some very nice space scenery. He's even offered to help other projects generate their own fancy skyboxes if there's a fellow Wingnut in need.

So, I... kinda, sorta... bought myself a wonderful planetarium software that allows the simulation of most of the known universe. It also allows the creation of skyboxes of very, very high resolution. Oh, and guess what, it came with a professional license that allows me to distribute the skyboxes for anything, even commercial projects. It goes without saying that Wingnuts and their fan-projects will be welcome if they need such tools to make their projects look even greater!I've still got to finish working on the

WC Remakeproject. He's implemented AI piloting and made great strides on the interaction of weapons, damage and explosions. The animations below show off the impressive progression of the engine. I've got a WebGL build up and running that plays itself via the new AI. It's quite fun to just watch. I've implemented laser collision, damage tracking and death/respawns! Watch 'em blow up! Most of the fighting basics are in there - Now I need to add the UI - Radar, shield and fuel displays, targeting, etc. I'm pretty happy with this.Protip: Never afterburn your already damaged Hornet light fighter into the oncoming fire of 3 Dralthis.

Nocliphas published an interesting documentary on the history of CD Projekt and its origins that led to the creation of Good Old Games, which turns ten years old next week. The video is highlighted by a number of interviews with GOG personnel and what they do to preserve and maintain classic games. It caught our attention thanks to a special shout out at
26:40on the work to get Wing Commander on the service, but the whole thing is worth watching when you have the time!
