Model Conversion into Freelancer: Bubblehead

This model is free for use so long as it is not for commercial gain. Feel free to add it to any MOD you want to. Credit should always be given to the original model author atrahasis1.


How I converted this model for use in Freelancer. 

Milkshape to import the .mod Starfleet Command model file format. Saved file as regular .3ds in Milkshape. Scaled up the model 25.5 times! 30X too large. Exported file formate into .cmp and followed Drizzt's instructions for creating a .mat file. 


The graphics HAVE TO be flipped vertically before playing on Freelancer!

The HardCMP editor available at www.lancersreactor.com was instrumental in allowing me to finish this project along with Drizzt's modding tutorial v4.0. Milkshape and all of the Freelancer community import, export, and .mat exporter plugins were also necessary. 

Pic2Pic also shares credit for transforming your texturs into .tga files and flipping them per the requirement discussed below.



Two of the Eagle in the HardCMP hardpoint editor, which serves also as a model viewer. The version of the graphics reversed is how the model WILL look in the game IF you DON'T reverse the textures before making the .mat file. Confusing?


Features:
4 Weapon hardpoints facing forward.
3 Torpedo hardpoints facing forward.
4 Turrets, one top-fwd, one port-rear-podtop, one stbd-rear-podtop, one aft-undertail.
1 Mine hardpoint, stbd aft.
1 Counter Measure hardpoint port aft.
All weapons concealed to some degree, save upper turrets to preserve 
"Harmless but Useful" appearnce. No weapon hardpoints mounted on 
Lifepod/cockpit module to preserve Geneva Convention status.

6 Running Lights
10 Docking lights, 4 of wich are on the bottom mission module acting as Landing lights.

4 Engine hardpoints (Duh!) but with
4 Thruster hardpoint set in-line with engines for coaxial engine and thruster effect.

Plus Std assortment of internal hardpoints to support functionality In Game.

Physics, weapon configuration, engine and light effects, and availability of model in playtest was made by the excellent Galaxy class freighter in the following unconventional method, as I haven't written, nor gotten permission too, write a complete Mod featuring all of the 20th Century Sci-fi cast of spaceships in Freelancer. Such a Mod should be available at both websites and be Freelancer Mod Manager v1.3 friendly.

Play tested direct model file substitution with another 4 engine freighter model called the Galaxy in the "Privateer in Sirius" Mod also availabe at lancersreactor. Backup galaxy files and rename EagleT files to enable Eagle Transporter in Freelancer. Not all hardpoints activated or used by the 
original Galaxy configuration files.
