	ARWING ADD ON FIGHTER
		By Ryuujin

INTRODUCTION

The Arwing is a venerable piece of Multi-Role fighter technology, having seen service in many different warzones and campaigns. It can service a
wide range of roles from deep penetration assault, to short range interception and patrol duties, and coupled with it's trans-atmospheric	flight
capabilities is about as versatile as a swiss army knife.

For those who somehow missed the last 10 years of console gaming, the Arwing fighter first made it's debut in Starfox on the SNES some time in
the mid 90's, back then in glorious 16 bit colour, the highly sophisiticated graphics engine meant that the original Arwing design used a mere 90 or
so polygons at most - compared to the 1000+ used in this version; and hence it was by nesscesity a sharp and simplistic design.

Some years later with the advent of the N64, Fox and crew returned in Starfox: Lylat Wars, and much to everyone joy so did the Arwing. Keeping
in sync' with the original style the Arwing kept most of the classic features that made it so instantly recognisable, even though many of those features
were only there to appease the rather useless CPU power of the SNES.

The latest title in the Star Fox series (Which at this time has yet to be released) has seen yet another modification to the appearance of the Arwing,
the smaller fins on the underside are now much larger, and it has a 3 point engine exghaust rather than single semi covered engine. Also the general
framework of the arwing is now much more believable, sporting coasters and guide rails giving it variable geometry and the ability to fold up for storing
aboard a carrier; it is this design that the Arwing sports in Freelancer.

FAQ:

Q: The Arwing like totally sucks, even a stock valkerie can give it a run for it's money!
A: The Arwing's hull integrity is quite weak, so it won't take much punishment if it's shields crash out. During the campaign game you won't have
the technological edge over your enemies, and so they'll probably have equally good shields, and even better armour than you. That's life I'm
afraid, maybe you should ditch the Arwing for something better until the campaign game is over, then go back to the Arwing and load it up with
top of the range class 9 and 10 weapon systems - Let's see a stock Valkerie load up those. Failing that, just go edit the Ship Architecture to taste.

Q: Grr, I've got like 6 PROMETHEUS' stuck to my Arwing, but when I fire them my energy bar goes flat instantly and then I can only fire like 1 shot
at a time after the first salvo!.
A: The Arwing is configured with Photon weapons in mind, Photon Weapons drain a small(ish) chunk of energy with each shot, and recycle very
quickly, the Arwing's recharge rate is very high and can fire such a weapon for quite a duration without flattening it's charge. However class 10
experimental weapons cause immense power drain each shot, firing more than maybe 2 experimentals for any duration WILL flatten your battery
	  store.

Q: I swear the Arwing looks different...
A: It's gone through an evolution this aircraft. In the original Starfox, it had only one set of fins really and it's engine had a distinct cover over the
upper part of it. In Lylat Wars and Dino Planet it was much the same as the original, but slightly more impressive, in the next up and coming title
however it's had something of a spruce up, having gained a new set of fins, additional hardpoints and it's engine mounting has changed
	  considerably.

Q: How come I can't break bits off it?
A: I really wanted to make the vehicle damagable, but there isn't a reliable export system that allows for damagable subsections of a ship available
yet. If a version comes out you'll be sure I'll update this.
