  • Hey guys!

I'm looking to engage the various Freelancer communities to help me build an ever improving list of Freelancer related games out there.

Long story short, in 2014 I created a Freelancer section on my oldschool retro website paying tribute to the original Freelancer games along with the great many successful & sadly unsuccessful Freelancer related fan projects out there to make sure that they are never forgotten and can inspire talented Freelancer fans to create new Freelancer projects in the future. For that list I collected pics, vids, demos, and information for as many of the projects as possible. I could use some help from the community with this list as I'm sure there's more I don't know about. This is my latest summary of the website list below.

    Website:
Blake's Sanctum - Freelancer Legacy Games

(Note: Originally built in 2001 this website is still deliberately very late 90s early 2000s retro in design. So if you’re not nostalgic for old retro websites with music, animating gifs & left click browsing then you probably won’t like it)

  • there was an old TC mod called Freelancer: Combat Evolved. It removed the arcady feel of space flight and added inertia and newtonian physics. space fights became games of chicken with magnetically accelerated cannons at 500+meters per second and all the ships were modeled from Halo until about Halo 3. Its a defunct community and some of my oldest fan-fic is archived there. Worked my way up to commanding a Marathon-class heavy cruiser in the UNSC and i was only 16. It wasn't long after i joined CF

Was a very well done mod i think. I also think Starpoint Gemini should be in the "very similar" category. I played a dozen or so hours of SPG2 and i was really impressed with how much it felt ripped off lol. I liked there was more grind mission variety such as taxing and shipping goods (vs the standard FL Kill ships, assassinate target, destroy station, retrieve bounty mission types)

  • There is one more series, not so related to Freelancer, but a space-based RTS : Homeworld Series :)
