Attention to all officers,

because we are new, as an organisation, in space we need to build some official as also unofficial contacts with local governments. Last week visited Freeport 11 Rheinland government operative. He asked if we can do small favour for them regarding exploration in "new" systems around X-3043. Rheinlanders were always in need for minerals resources and now they are searching for planetary cobalt mining possibilities. Theirs main problem why they have limited possibility to do this by themselves are high criminal activity in most of these systems. Next could be that they used this occasion to test our organisation and see if we could be used for another tasks in the future. All in all is this a perfect occasion for us how to start with build above mentioned diplomatic links. With this said was decided to focus our interest to following systems: Nephele, Neophobos, Quantos. Below are given mission orders:

Mission orders

Explore all above mentioned systems for possible planetary (moons included) mining operations.

Destroy as much as possible criminals in these systems (and deliver theirs pods to prison stations).

Report all interesting findings related to these systems.

Mission duration & rewards

We not need to rush with this mission as it was not marked as an urgent matter. Still we should be able respond to Rheinlanders no later than 24th May

Standard reward for this mission is 1 AP (activity point). In case that there will be shown extraordinary and reported activity, could be granted additional 1 AP.

Mineral Resources survey Daumann Heavy Construction

Part A : publication for Client

Findings :

Planetary sources for Cobalt were found on :
- Lliusk moon of Planet Renegat - Remagen / Quantos System
- Inair moon of Planet Skey / Neophobos System
- Whosam moon of Planet Drake / Nephele System
Assessment :

Lliusk
- access : very good due to the very near Frankfurt Jumphole
- infrastructure : low to mediocre. Some living complexes and starting regular shipping to nearby Undiao moon due to its beginning Titanium mining have been established just recently by Kruger Minerals.
- security : mediocre to good, only low to medium criminal activity, some Corsairs Legionaire, very seldom a few Hackers Daggers. These are kept at bay by numerous Bounty Hunter patrol parties as well as civilian convoy protection in this transit System. Only at the far end of the Trade Line occasionally stronger forces of VHF Outcasts and - not truly criminal butg also not Rheinland friendly - GMG patrols appear.
- space environment : generally high background radiation in the whole system. Since Daumann has already a lot of experience with such an environment (Solarius Station) this shouldn't be much of a problem.
- planetary conditions: treacherous surface conditions of its ice crust were reported by initial Kruger surveillance, that they, seemingly short of liquidity for the necessary investments, went for the easier conditions on Undiao moon. However, the obvious profits of having such abundant Cobalt resources at hand should easily repay for some R&D in appropriate surface equipment.
Inair
- access : medium to difficult. From Rheinland (Frankfurt System) three systems have to be past, one infested by Nomads, and it is about 40 k from next Trade Lane/human outpost away.
- infrastructure : generally good. Planet Tobruk is a well growing colony due to spreading ALG activities. They have started to build an own shipyard in its orbit. Also Gateway is starting ground operations on the failed penal colony Planet Southport. However, the nearest station, Ghats Prison might be questionable help, since you can meet Liberty Rogues, Mollys, Outcasts and Corsairs there not only behind bars but also freely in the Bar.
- security : low to mediocre. Maybe due to its questionable neighbourhood Ghats Prison, run by Junkers as its personnel, many criminal fighter wings of mostly Mollys and Corsairs will be met not only in the vicinity of the Planet Skye and its moons but already on entering the system by Jumpgate or one of the Jumpholes. At least the gate is guarded by an aging Bretonian Battleship, but the few Bretonian patrols as well as Bounty hunters are having hard times to at least lower the seemingly uneradicable criminals in this system.
- space environment : Inairs mother Planet Skye has been declared unstable and due to be breaking apart sometimes in the next thousand years, with unforeseeable results for its moons. However, it seems stable enough for the Bretonian military to establish a military base on one of the other moons, Cerer, as is indicated by only lazily camouflaged military transport traffic in this area. And there would still be centuries of industrial exploitations of Inairs treasures left, well worth to be considered.
- planetary conditions : good, seemingly a normal, icy moon surface, providing water-ice for for water itself as well as hydrogen and oxygen by its electrolysis and some Regolith and Hydrocarbons for buildings and material-processing, therefore reducing investment costs considerably.
Whosam
- access : medium to difficult. The same as for Inair applies also for Whosam. But it has one possible advantage, even though substantially longer, it can be accessed also through Bretonian Territory and the new systems The Corridor and Inner Cloud, thereby circumventing the Nomads threat in Freeport 7.
- infrastructure : mediocre. There is corporate Severn Station, run by Planetform but almost on the other side of the system without sufficient Trade line connections. However, due to lots of traffic from Bretonia through the nearby Jumpgate to Inner Cloud other lines of support might be feasible and there is also a mining exploration operation of IMG on neighbouring Ghamwor moon with whom some form of mutual aid might be possible. The nearby Outpost Delta might be of questionable help. Even though many of the personnel comes from Bowex it is owned and ruled by the Bundschuh.
- security : bad to low. The system is infested by many and then very heavily armed packs of all kinds of criminals of whom a high portion - of special interest for Daumann - is Rheinland originated, as the system also homes a big Red Hessians base, Lith Station. Regular law enforcing patrols are very rare and fighting of these criminals is mainly done by convoy escorts and in higher numbers also by GMG patrols - not too easy to accept by a Rheinland corporation.
- space enviroment : very good. The surrounding asteroid field consists mainly of only small chunks of water with occasional stoney or carbonate components, what might come in handy for the sustention of any operation there and there aren't any radiation problems.
- planetary conditions : good, just a normal small moon without any specialities - beside its rich Cobalt ores.
- special note : If Daumann should decide for an operation on Whosam, they should do it with Good Speed. Intelligence gathered from pilots in the system and at the stations indicates, that BMM as well as IMG strongly consider applications for mining rights.

Notables on security and public situation

'Questionable' Alliances :
The 'front lines' between criminals and civilian as well as governmental institutions blur. The Bretonian government, officially in charge for the two settled systems visited during this survey mission can claim this only on paper.

Neophobos

The only governmental presence is the gate guarding, age old, merely modernized Battleship Pollux, barely able to provide cover for incoming traffic, reduced to a shelter for waiting until the criminals might have been driven away by tediousness and the surrounding radiation. The entry points for them, 2 jumpholes to Vespus and Regalis, are completly unguarded. It remains to be discussed, why the civilian corporations that use them frequently haven't reported their existence to the officials. Obviously the Bretonian gouverment suffers from a considerable shortness of personnel, resulting in such desperate and contraproductive actions as employing junkers to run their installations, esp. to be seen at Ghats Prison, that serves more as a support and recreational base for criminals than a detention facility.

Nephele

Searching for governmental presence here is futile. There almost isn't any at all. The only safe harbour for law-abiding pilots is Severn Station, far away from the jumpgate to X-3043, even further away from the jumpgate that connects via Inner Cloud and The Corridor to New London almost directly. But Bretonia isn't even able to secure these transit systems from the there freely roaming, numerous and heavily armed Outcasts as well as some other crimilnals. What is even more bewildering, criminals not from Bretonia but from Rheinland have taken over - beside the seemingly ubiquious Outcasts. Venerable Outpost Delta, once o proud Monument is now a mayor base of the Bundschuh. With its services run by the at least partially gouvermentally owned Bowex ! Another example as profit rules over conscience. Also the Red Hessians have established a large base, Lith Station. But what's truely going in and on with this station also remains for covered secret service investigations, as its ship dealer is obviously of Rheinland Military origin.

Generally speaking, the only force countering all these criminals is the GMG. But that they do thoroughly as in every system they operate large and well armed fleets of fighter patrols. Compared to others their resources seem to be abundant. However, as they are still hostile to other civilians, esp. of Rheinland origin, their motives behind such extended operations remain unknown.

Alien activities

Even though in all systems of the survey still active, self-reproductive Nomads depots can be found, none of their ships seems to appear. The one big exception is Freeport 7. Here they not only strongly defend such depots, they appear in great numbers everywhere in this system, beeing a dangerous threat. However, there are numerous fighter patrols of all houses fighting them hard. At least in this case the agreements after the Nomads wars live up to their spirit. What causes the seemingly unchanged high interest of the Nomads in this system as well as their origin here or point of entry is still unveiled. It remains a considerable threat should they decide to break out as there are three possible routes to leave this system, to Sekar, Quantos with the direction to Rheinland space, Purian Lake, an almost closed system in possesion of a pirate clan and ofc X-3043.

Notable other findings

Quantos and Neophobos

In both systems large asteroid fields are located, in Quantos (Astrobleme Field) not far from the Freeport 7 jumphole, in Neophopbos (Ptolemy Field) around the jumpgate, that have some intriguing similarities. Large enough to be the remnants of a planet. Not only almost equal in appearance, mineral structures and compositions they are very rich source of alien - Nomads as well as Dom'Kavash - artifacts. With the ban on these still active a considerable, possible hot spot for smugglers activities. And as - at least in Neophobos - these fields are still energetically active (radiation) their time of origin - or of the destruction of the planet they originated from must be very recent, recent enough to happen during the Nomads wars. What or who was the cause of their destruction has to be discovered yet. But I doubt, that Dom'Kavash will reveal any information on that to the contacts the Order has established with them.

Nephele

Though due to the heavy criminal activities in this system not truly a futuristic hot spot, the wreck of the Coalition Sleepership CNS Stalin is well known between pilots roaming the new, so-called "X-systems". Seemingly not many have taken metallurgical scans on it. Otherwise they could have discovered, that many of the man-made debris of possible former stations and depots in this system, that can be found esp. in the clouded asteroid fields are of the same if not identical composition of materials not to be found in Sirius, but that must have originated from Sol. Furthermore especially in the southern and western ice clouds (Apollo_ and Cupid Field) very large ice asteroids of strange and partially almost too regular shapes can be found, composed of super-compressed water ice with trace of rare elements in an almost meta-crystaline distribution. This unnaturally can be revealed only by the most thorough and educated analysing sequences. Even though the automated restriction warning seemingly set by the Order is active, due to the complete lack of enforcement in this system it might be only a question of time, that others reproduce this findings and look too deep into them and for their possible makers.

These informations might or might not be passed on to to The Order High-Command.

Further usage of this information for eventually taken action left to the discretion of the Commissioner.

Attention to all officers,

today's mission may be quite difficult. Coalition government unofficially asked us for a small favour, they need few coalition_rogues captives from Guangdong system, but rogues_ can't notice that coalition_ have them. In this system is not only a small coalition_station, but also a hidden isolated rogues_ base. Coalition_ want to have actual informations about this base which will not change anytime soon, but this can happen only when they will have rogues_captive which will be considered as lost in fight with someone independent. And this is a right moment when we can step into this and acquire few good contacts in Coalition_military.

Mission orders

Explore Guangdong system and find a sector(s) with high/higher coalition rogues activity.

Capture 5-10 rogues_pilots and deliver them to prison on Planet Murmansk. Is allowed use base missions, but independent hunt could be more secure.

Report all interesting findings related to this system.

Time is not much critical factor here, we have up to 2 weeks time for perform this operation. Captured rogues_ should be delivered till 22th Jun.

Did two coalition rogues captives transports (30+ captives) from Guangdong to Planet Murmansk. In list below are places in Guangdong with higher (you can be sure to meet them there) coalition rogues activity:

Near Singapore Station & TL entry near this station
Near Achinsk Station ... this station is most of time under Coalition ships attack, but in "pauses" you can expect very heavy rogues_ patrols
Near Munificent wreck in F8 ... was almost shot down there by surprise, is really good idea have there open left main HUD panel.

Part A : For submission to the Coalition_Headquarters

Intelligence on Coalition Rogues appearence, operations and retrieval of subjects for interrogation

Preface
The considerable presence of Coalition military forces in Gladius and in all sectors of Guangdong renders their astronomical data as known to Coalition Headquarter and will not be further discussed in this report for convenience of shortness.

Rogue presence distribution

As will be also stated below the emergence of Rogue fighter patrol in the Indale Cloud, esp. in the vicinity of Achinsk Station, sectors A5, A6, B5 and B6 is very high. To a slightly lesser extend they are also encountered in the rest of the western sectors, esp. from A4 to A2 and B4 to B2. Tarces of energetic particle residues indicate a regular patrouling of these areas, esp. around Rakush, that make the usage of this moon by Coalition Rogues very likely, as well as the frequent attacks on Singapore Station.

Surprisingly almost none of them can be encountered in the Minatas Cloud. Its Gold deposits would suppose more.

By trace readings as mentioned above there is long, the Springbourne Field circumventing route touching the Gladius Jumphole and the Ironcastle Field, finally aiming at the Gladius Jumpgate. Coalition Rogues appearance along this track is relativly rare though to be considered, possibly due to numerous, large patroling parties of the Coalition, including the heaviest of capital ships, esp. around the Gladius Jumphole.

The rest of the system can be rendered Coalition Rogues free.

Rogue Achinsk Station

Information available from Coalition GalNet so far seems partially out of date. Hidden in the Indale Cloud in the middle of the borderline between sectors A5 and A6 it is isolated - already by the remoteness of Guandgong itself - and populated by many civilians.

But its military status is anything but weak. Armed with at least 7 heavy Coalition style Base Canons, probably more. To keep my cover for further internal observation not all sides, edges and caves this ateroid-built-of station offers were surveyed. There a numerous fighter and bomber wings based on constant alert status, to be quickly deployed. The few Coalition patrols, that reach its vicinity were eradicated swiftly.

Also it seems to be THE major R&D hub of the Coalition Rogues. The most intruguing feature of this asteroid are its strange crystaline structures of unknown composition but with seemingly very interesting possibilities. One of them made useful in the Coalition Rogues development of holographic projectors of which at least one type is available here.

These crystals are the main energy core component of a completly new designed Very Heavy Fighter craft build at Achinsk. Its specifications seems to be derived from the known Lagg fighter, but due to its highly experimental energy system it's still in an early test phase. As word goes it's sold to foreign pilots for testing, since their pilots don't dare to sit and fly on such an assumed powder keg, while Coalition patrols are lurking itn the area.

It seems the Coalition Rogues try to keep an especially low profile in this system as indicated by their restriction to certain areas, their avoidance of rich mineral resources (Minatas Cloud) and their pilots intruguing habit of rather suiciding with their ships than get caught in a Life pod.

Achinsk Station as well as their possible plans for this system must be of major imtortance to them.

For further investigation into these subjects 10 Coalition Rogues were captured and delivered to the hands of Tanja Horovitz, assigned Commodity Trader at Murmansk (see receipt below).

7 are of Guangdong origin, 3 of Sovetskaya origin since I was heavily attacked on returning, possibly in an attempt to free their comrades, imformed of their capture by Achinsk command.

Part B : For internal use and clan data-base

Flight records

Driven a bit off road by Nomads patrols in Gladius - I avoided fights for fastness and attraction of too much attention by the also present Coalition patrols for keeping cover - I found the Guangdong Jumphole for entering the target system. Only to be 'greeted by a Coalition fleet consisting of several Krelow and even a Zsar carrier and their escorts.

Using our enhanced particle and energy trace detection system I followed a suspicious trail into the Inda Cloud. Sneaking past several Coalition fighter patrols i finally met a Coalition Rogues patrol. On contact I produced my cover story : "Seeking refuge for being biased in Sirius space for being ... different." With video channel on they easily believed this (never seen an APE before and no school books, probably not even university readings depict APEs anymore this days). Though with some suspicion I was guided to Achinsk. But cover held, up to the point, that I got some inside in their crystal R&D and the offer of a experimental ship purchase (got some itch on that due to stories about 'usual laboratory apes' on Earth).

When there wasn't anymore info to gain I left for free and did the survey, following the now well known to me particle readings of Coalition Rogues ships, finally arriving at Singapore station. Despite my flawless Coalition credentials I showed the station commander including the 'special ops agreement', he and his personnel weren't very fond of me. The whole garrison kept some distance all the time I dwelled in Guangdong. With effects ...

For the 2nd part of the mission, the capture of some Coalition Rogues I first tried the 'officially correct' way in that I took a few Jobboard missions. Unfortunatly the support, as announced in the mission objectives, never showed up. Luckily i made it in the escape pod and some unhappy station mechanics had to recover and repair my ship. Well, one time is no time, ... but two times is one time too much. After a second such incident and one solo completed mission (barely survived) I changed strategy. Following regular patrols I managed to bring down some Coalition Rogues to collect 7 lifepod at last.

When I left Singapore station for Sovetskaya the garrison was as happy as me, though the station commander seemed to have a strange urge for the Com department after shake hands. OUHK ! Should have given this more attention. Perhaps he was a bit pis---, sulky that I used my left foothand.

Passing Gladius from Jumpgate to Jumpgate without too much hassel with Nomads (had a cargo to deliver ...) the party begun almost immediatly after reaching Sovetskaya. I was almost constantly attacked by Coalition rogues in considerable numbers (up to eight at the same time) on the way to Kuibyschew Outpost with only sparse support by Coalition fighters. Later I got word that most of the Gorlowka Carrier squadrons were deployed to southern Gladius due to a message from Singapore... .

However, since the Sovetskaya breed of pilots is made of special wood, I finally made it to Murmansk, with three more lifepods onboard.

Findings

Guangdong system survey
This 3 sun system has a rather awkward accessability. It's the dead end of a remote and dangerous road. The only other system it's connected to, by a Coalition Jumpgate as well as a Jumphole is Gladius, infested by large and strong equiped (Bombers and adv. Interceptors) Nomads fighter groups, hardly disputed as the numerous destroyed Dark Reign weapon plattforms indicate. The system contains only a few planetary objects, that are all coupled in a curious way. The main is Planet Chamdo orbited by a small moon Rakush. Coupled to Chamdo in an far orbit is Planet Kazakh in itself orbited by its moon Ildale.

Chamdo
A beautiful, fertile, very earthlike planet, though with a slightly greater gravitation, that seems to be ideal for settlement but at time without any infrastructural installations. Even shuttle landings seem to be rare.

Rakush
A small, barren, pockmarked ball of stone, orbiting Chamdo closly, without any mineral resources. As the info logged in Coalition NeuroNet assumes, its resource is its position itself, being an ideal lookout and forwarded base for Coalition Rogues on Chamdo and assaults against Singapore Station.

Kazakh
Being almost as big as Chamdo its classification is disputable, moon of Chamdo or planet coupled to Chamdo. Being heavier, the thoroughness of its first examinations, rendering it useless, might be questionable. It's worth a second, deeper look for hidden resources.

Ildale
The only planetary object with clear hints being worth further industrial exploitation for Uranium ore in the first place. And in this very interesting for Coalition Rogues as well.

Furthermore there two asteroids fields, Ironcastle in the 'southeast' and Minatas Cloud in the 'northwest' and two gas clouds, Ibanneos in the 'northeast' and Inda occupying almost the whole 'west' of the system. The whole centre of the system is occupied by a large combined gas cloud, Engene and asteroid field, Springbourne.
In terms of resources only the Ibanneos Cloud, where the Coalition has installed a few Gas Miner and the Minatas cloud with rich and easy accessible gold deposits are of interest, though no mining facilities, neither of Coalition nor Coalition Rouges origin are present. Curiously the Coalition maintains some large, heavily armed und watched production facilities inside the Springbourne Field, that offers no resources beside rocks ... and coverage.

Of interest for the Order and especially the Rheinland gouverment might be, that the wrecks of two missing-in-action ships, Eisenstein and Munificent of the first fleet deployed into the realms behind the Sol Dimensional Rift at all, can be found in the Ironcastle Field. Though being tightly watched by Coalition patrols I could perform a deeper scan of them. They were clearly NOT brought down by Nomads or Dom'Kavash guns but by coalition build gatlings. The watching Coalition patrols hindered a deeper investigation for age and origin - Coalition or Coalition Rogues - of these marks. The Eisenstein being mostly empty, beside some weaponry, the Munificent was loaded up to the brim with Diamonds. If these were left from the time of her launch from Sol or if the wreck is used as a hidden storage in recent time remains unanswered.

Singapore Station

Info on Coalition GalNet are sparse at best. Own investigation revealed intriguing details. It actually is physically one of the largest sensor arrays to be found in human space. But the material and installed tech is old, outdated, not to say antique. There are enhancements regarding energy supply and armament, as well as some patched to modern electronics, but its far behind the standards usual for Coalition installations. The basic material is rusty and worn out as if this station dwelled there for centuries.

Remarkable the ships, that are available on this station. At least one model is definitely not only a GMG design but of GMG production quality. Another model seems to be a local adaptation of it with lower overall specs and quality margins. Despite eventual license agreements, that GMG enterprises this far into the remote remains ... interesting.

Another stunning fact is that the equipment dealer has not only Coalition derived Capital ship technology to offer but also some Coalition Rogues stuff too. Even though under the seal of secrecy you can purchase the same Holoprojector they make at Achinsk station.

(This info on the equipment dealer might or might not be submitted to Coalition Headquarter, left to discretion of clan-leadership. Due to its delicacy it was not included in the wider distributed official report.)

Achinsk

Additional to the officially submitted data the everywhere on the station obvious age and antiquity of the station has to be mentioned. Its large, civilian population gives it more the appearance of a colony than a more or less recently installed hideout of terrorists. The seemingly here developed technology of the Holoprojectors utilizing the strange crystals to be found here oddly works with avatars of ancient not anymore build Sol Alliance capital ships as the Bremen, that couldn't have fooled any Coalition pilot since generations. However, it would have made some sense, if this technology was developed ... or finished shortly after the arrival of the Coalition in Altair space.

Conclusions

Coalition_Headquarter doesn't tell us all, that is to be known about this system, its history and its role in Coalitions overall history in Altair.
