Starship Traits

  • Instead of publishing a list of all available T6 starship traits I will pick a few high I personally consider "interesting" or "worth to get".

    • Reciprocity - Phantom Intel Escort

      When missed:• To self: -10% Recharge Time on Intelligence and Tactical Bridge Officer abilities

      This trait allowed the introduction of a new type of ship builds which does not rely on aux2bat cooldown reduction, zemok build or any build type that relies on slotting one ability twice. However, in my eyes this trait is only useful when you are really going to create a Reciprocy ship build instead of aux2bat or zemok. A good Zemok build or a good Aux2bat build would not need this trait as the cooldowns are getting reduced either by your Zemok Doffs or due to your Technicans.
      Still, this is one very useful trait if you want to try something new and dont rely on traditional ship builds.


    • Emitter Synergy - Scryer Intel Science Vessel

      When using Tac or Intel Bridge Office Ability:
      • To self: +7.5% Exotic Damage for 15 sec (Stacks up to 3 times)
      • To self: +7.5% Shield Heals for 15 sec (Stacks up to 3 times)

      Yes, this Trait also can be useful if your main source of damage relies on Exotic Damage (mostly for Science Captains). The DPS boost can be pretty strong when using powers like Gravity Well or Repulsors.


    • Overwhelming Force - Mat'Ha Raptor

      I decided to include this Trait into the list. Not only because KDF have very limited Trait choices but also since this Trait can deal a fairly good amount of damage.


    • Subwarp Sheath - Icarus, Klavek orJaeih Pilot Ships

      Quote

      Adds armor penetration with all weapons based on your speed.

      This belongs to the new pilot ship traits and is for sure the most useful of them. Ingame numbers show that I can add up to 15% armor penetration to your weapons based on your ships speed. That can be a good source of extra damage.


    • Stay On Target - Mercury, Kortaror Okhala Pilot Ships

      Quote

      Keeping your current target in your forward 90 degree arc causes your ship to autofire a microtorpedo every few seconds.

      Also one of the new pilot ship traits. This one is very focused on cannon builds or builds with dual beam banks. Since I can not test it I cant really tell much about this trait but I can imagine that it might be a good damage dealer for all kinds of escort ships.


    • All Hands on Deck - Presidio, Ty'Gokor or VastamCommand Battlecruisers

      Quote

      Activating a Tactical or Command Bridge Officer ability will reduce the recharge time of Science Bridge Officer and Captain abilities. This may only occur once every few seconds.

      This one is my absolute favorite Trait. Not only that it can reduce cooldowns on science Boff abilities, it is the only ability in the entire game that can reduce the cooldowns of captain abilities (which are very strong). In my eyes this is currently the most powerful trait.


    • Pedal to the Metal - Captain Specialization: Pilot
      Quote

      Space Trait. +1% All Damage Bonus per 2 seconds spent at Full Throttle (max 10 stacks). All stacks immediately lost if your throttle is dropped.

      10% extra damage when on full speed. This trait can be useful for fast escorts but also for slow cruisers which cycle around their target.


    • Predictive Algorithms - Captain Specialization: Intelligence Officer
      Quote

      Space Trait. Activating any Weapon Enhancement Ability removes 1 Debuff effect and grants +2.5% Accuracy for 30 sec (stacks up to 4 times) - These stats improve, instead, by +5% accuracy per stack with the trait "Improved Predictive Algorithms" which is gained by completely Maxing out the Intelligence spec tree.

      Ive a bit mixed feelings about this one as its very hard to determine how effective it actually is. Of course up to 10% extra accuracy never can be bad the question always is where you need it. If you are fighting larget ships you dont need it at all. Only if you need to fire on small shuttles or projectiles ACC is important. The debuff effect generally sounds good but lets face it.... when have you seen an NPC using buffs? I personally think this trait has higher effectivity in PVP than in PVE.... which does not make this a bad trait.


    • Command Frequency - Captain Specialization: Command Officer
      Quote

      Improves the cooldown of "Fleet Support" abilities and removes the "Low Health" restriction. Cooldown reduction is -5 minutes for basic Command Frequency, and -10 minutes for Improved Command Frequency.

      LOL - This is my all time favorite. This trait is working even if you dont have it slotted. If you have this trait, its automatically in effect even when you didnt activate it. Im sure somewhen Crytpic will notice this bug and fix it but until then this trait gives a free Fleet support every 5mins (even if this trait has not been activated).


    • Torpedo Barrage - Elachi Sheshar Dreadnought Cruiser

      Your Torpedo: High Yield bridge officer abilities will cause you the queue up a bonus Torpedo: High Yield I. This can occur once every 30 seconds.

      This is a pure torpedo build trait. That can be very useful. I guess the description speaks for itself.


    • Supremacy - Vaadwaur Astika Heavy Battlecruiser
      Quote

      Cannon Scatter Volley or Beam Fire at Will provide a small boost to all subsystem power levels per target hit for a short time as long as these attack modes are active. This bonus stacks up to 20 times.

      Thats a really awesome Trait. If you combine it with a plasmonic leech you can keep your ship powers high for nearly 100% uptime. That in return will improve your engines, shields weapons etc. Its one of the coolest traits in the game.


    • Frontal Assault - Vaadwaur Manasa Assault Escort
      Quote

      Activate any Cannon-enhancing ability (Rapid Fire, Scatter Volley, Surgical Strikes, etc.) provides a boost to your Shield Hardness and Shield Regeneration along your forward shield arc.

      For every cannon build which suffers survivability this trait will keep you alive. Since in a cannon build you always try to face your enemy your front shields take most damage and this one counters all incoming damage a bit.


    • Go for the Kill - Jem'Hadar Strike Ship
      Quote

      Critical Hits extend duration of active Cannon: Rapid Fire by 3 seconds. May occur once every 5 seconds.

      This clearly is a pure cannon build trait and very useful if you are using Rapid Fire. It bothers me a bit that it has no effect on Scatter Volly powers.



    Yes there are more starship traits. Mostly those that have heals. Dont get me wrong on this.... heals are good but compared to other healing methods the starship traits always appeared a bit weak to me. Also the traits which grant a damage immunity in my eyes have a way too short duration to make a real difference in combat.


    If I need to choose from the above traits for my Zemok beam Odyssey right now it would be:

    • Supremacy
    • All Hands on Deck
    • Pedal to the Metal
    • Subwarp Sheath
    • and of course Command Frequency (which is active eventhough I only have 4 starship trait slots ^^)
