Combatlog reader

  • I'll just put this here, should anyone else have a need for it.

Basically: you can track how much damage you and your team mates make in a certain fight. The damage is being saved in a log file on your computer. But since it's a pure textual file, making any sense out of it is a rather challenging task. That's why the good ppl have created their own "readers" (aka parsers) that help you discern the information you need.

Why would this be of any interest to you?
    1) You want to increase your damage output (i.e. you're testing new setups)
    2) you want to see how well you do compared to other team mates

The tool I find very convenient is Combatlog Reader from --SFG-- Lea ( original thread link, and youtube link (everything is in german, but the tool itself supports english)). The tool is frequently updated, the latest version is 1.2.2.6 from 20.12.2014.

You only have to start your combatlog by typing "/combatlog 1" in any chat (you wont see any output!), and you stop it by typing "/combatlog 0". You have to start and stop it by yourself, there is no automatic option to "recognize" when the fight started or ended. There is a nice keybind tutorial OP wrote (link) that I'd suggest you adapting it to your needs. And due to the nature of the log file itself, it tracks only damage occurring within the 30k perimeter around your ship (shouldn't be a huge disadvantage as at least it works properly for you).

Of course, there are some other tools doing the same like ACT (Advanced Combat Tracker; link ) and STO DPS PArser (link).

  • combat log reader is the only one which gets frequent updates

the other ones might not recognize damage from new equipment and abilities

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • Maybe a importend Note!?
If you want to join the DPS Channels in STO you have to upload your DPS stats to get a invite.
For that you have to set your Compatlogreader to "Use DPS-Cannel Settings".
This setting can be find under Advanced Setting.

  • whats the benefit of being on the dps channels?
got an invitation today but well... .... what for?

  • Hi!

The benefit is that when no fleet member want to do or is online to do stf(s) then you can fly with those guys.
With those guys is nearly a garantie to do the stf in a short time and without fail.
    Just ask (example: l4ise)

Also when you have a question to a shipbuild you can ask there.
