    build for 900€ and can run absolutely EVERYFUCKINGTHING on Ultra 1920x1020


    i5-2500k with the Z68 motherboard is super easy to overclock to 4.4ghz... even an infant can do it with one click
    XFX 6950 can be unlocked to a 6970
    with 700W you should be able to CF later on

    it isn't so expensive when you look how much i paid for it... 1900euro... the price is low bcuz of the holidays and i was a modsrigs.com full member w/ perks and discounts and i bought it with 15% off :)

    yes but even with all that discount you could've gotten the PC I built for 900€ even cheaper... and that's all you need for gaming really for the next 3-4 years (even more since you can OC the CPU and unlock a 6970... plus CF options)


    it just makes more sense to me to spend 800-900€ on my kind of build than to exaggerate with a 2k € build... but that's my opinion

    Asus M3A78 (nice-looking one, bought for ~26$)
    AMD Athlon X2 240 (2.8 GHz default, overclocked to 3.5 GHz, bought for ~52$) - could have taken a triple-core one instead, but the tests showed too much heat and poor overclocking, along with MIDI issues (wavetable synthesizer)
    Default AM2+ aluminium cooler with the fan replaced to a silent one (free of charge)
    2 x 1GB Kingston don't-remember-the-model DDR2 800 MHz memory, unganged dual-channel 128-bit mode (could also be more if there were no bugs; acquired for free in exchange for my previous ones)
    Enermax EG365AX-VE(G) 353W (extremely silent, with fan speed control, acquired for free)
    WD Caviar Blue 1TB (~66$)
    ATI Radeon HD 4850 1 GB Gigabyte edition with passive cooling (~50$ with a discount because it lacked the driver disc! 8) )
    Asus DRW-22B2L (DVD-RW, LightScribe-capable, ~30$)
    3,5" Floppy Disc Drive (left from my earlier PCs)


    and now the part you all missed somehow:
    Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 rev. 4 (with DSP and DAC idetical to those on 2ZS, ~20$)
    Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music (the cheapest of fully functional X-Fi, production discontinued, ~46$)
    2-pin connector cable (linking the soundcards with S/PDIF, ~0,26$)


    internal equipment total cost: ~290,26$ :) not so bad for a student
    though I didn't mention the external which is way more expensive :S

    i can only hope you made a spelling error, RawPower ... cuz, 24gb of RAM ... and over 6TB hdd ... (which definitely isnt raid0 or 5) .. are you guys running local torrent servers for your region ? haha, thats overpowered ...


    my setup:
    4+ years old laptop with Core Duo at 2.0GHz, 2gb ram, 120gb hdd, nvidia geforce go7300 (256mb), and dual-boot linux+win7, and mouse with 3 buttons.
    i can barely play cf1.9 on it, but its doing wonders with terminal access ^_^


    i really had to check all the fans you guys are using ... now, thats just really crazy ... has anyone tried to pull out this thing on the following video ?

    Thank you! I do like it and it most likely will be the last PC I get. I agree, the PSU is the most important part, without a good one everything else runs like crap no matter how much you paid for it!
